The first 5 minutes of your driving test.

First 5 minutes of your driving test.

You have worked hard to get to the stage where your driving instructor has said, lets take your driving test.  So this could take anything from 3 to 6 months with most pupils, to even longer with others to reach that point.
The driving test day arrives www.youtube.com/c/JamesTravis and you are full of confidence, so what can go wrong.  Hopefully nothing.
But  if you talk to your friends who have failed there driving test you will more than likely hear I failed in the first few minutes.  So I am hoping this video will help you on your driving test day.  Good luck.

Driving test pass rates. 2011 v 2016

UK Driving Test Pass Rates 2011 vs. 2016

Taking your driving test is a nerve wracking experience, no matter how much of a confident driver you are. But what if your postcode has an impact on your chances of passing your practical driving test? UK driving test pass rates are a hot topic of discussion, and there are plenty of stats out there telling different stories, for example you may be more likely to pass if you live in a rural area.
But what about how driving schools across the country are improving driving test pass rates? A lot can change in five years, so we have taken data from driving test centres across the UK and compared those figures to pass rates in 2011 – the results were quite revealing…

6 penalty points or more 2 years and you will lose your licence.

If you are a new driver and you are unfortunate to get on your licence 6 or more points within 2 years of passing your test you will get your licence revoked.
There is lots of reasons to get penalty points on your driving licence.  This can vary from a speeding fine to mobile phone use.

Waiting times for the practical driving test.

Update on driving test waiting times, December 2016

Learner driver
We updated you in August and September 2016 about what we’re doing to reduce driving test waiting times. Since then, we’ve cut the waiting times from an average of 11.2 weeks to an average of 7.8 weeks now (16 December 2016).
We understand the impact these waiting times have on you and your pupils and we would like to share what we are doing to address this issue.

Increasing staff availability for testing

From mid-September to early October, driving examiners were joined by Local Driving Test Managers and Operations Managers from across DVSA to carry out driving tests. This led to an extra 182 staff carrying out around 20,000 extra tests.

Taking on more examiners

Since April this year, we have recruited 264 examiners. We expect that figure to increase to around 400 by the end of March 2017.
